The new Microsoft Defender for Business is in public preview, without SLA and has the target group of KMU and smaller companies under 300 FTEs. So Microsoft brings the solution to smaller companies and the middle market. Moreover it´s a chance for Microsoft Partner to take care of all there smaller customers in bulk with APIs and Lighthouse program.
